Social Networks...and Me

I had someone ask me the other day where the obsession with knowing information has come from. We were talking about society today with the growth of Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Myspace, and other social networking tools. I know I use them for business, but I like using them as information tools as well. I honestly am not sure why. Anyone have any ideas why we feel inclined to not only tell people what we are doing at that exact moment, but to also thrive off the fact that John Mayer made himself a sandwhich at 2am? It can be a little much sometimes, but it is an interesting observation of our society. Why do we have this fascination?....

I am finally feeling like my Real Estate career is taking off. Not sure why now, but I feel like things have been busier. The promising thing for me is, the busier I get, the more excited I feel about my career choice. Everyday I feel more and more content that I chose the right career path.

Alright, enough for today...in the words of sports Icon Jim Rome...I'm out. Rack me.

Too long

Wow, it has been a long time since I've updated this blog. I've been slacking. I can understand how some people blog daily, and I can't at the same time. If there is a topic that is on some one's mind, blogging can be quite releasing. I just don't think I'm at that point yet...

I am getting so sick of all the negativity around our society. Yes, we are in an economic recession right now. This is obvious. But is there nothing positive going on in North America? I swear, the media, and a lot of individuals, make it their goal to find something negative about everything. President Obama (who I have been a proud supporter of, I'll admit) has pushed through this stimulus bill. Yes, it is a lot of spending, and will set the country back for a while, but can't people give this a chance to work? There is so much negativity around it, it is bound to fail. People need to have a little bit more faith in the systems we have built, and on our human resilience.

Things are going pretty well for me. The housing market is not having it's typical early spring push, but I know it is coming. Being a young person is this industry has actually served me well during this difficult time. I don't have the huge expense accounts, staff, or children in University to worry about. I will make it through this tough time, and I am confident the market will turn in the next few months.

I have started reading blogs a lot lately. I am a little late into the game, but I am amazed by the thoughts some people have. If you know of any good blogs out there, shoot me a message or forward them to me. I would love to read them. I hope this finds everyone well(who am I kidding, does anyone actually read this?) Cheers

Hi all,I hope everyone is enjoying the obvious start to winter we are having. Personally I like it.

Well, it's been pretty hard to ignore economic downturn we are currently in. It can be daunting. But I want to assure everyone that just because the markets and the overall economic picture is bleak in the short term, it does not mean that you cannot be actively involved in the real esate markets right now. If you were thinking about buying or selling before the economy turned, do not feel like your attitude needs to change. We cannot predict the future, but there are plenty of opportunities. Being fiscally responsible at a time like this can really benefit you. If you have a good credit situation, banks, or other lenders will be more than willing to work with you. If you are interested in knowing you credit situation, or how to improve yours, there is a great article in the Hamilton Spectator today detailing some issues with credit. Here is the link:

http://www.thespec.com/News/Business/article/463937

Here is also some information for buyers and sellers, just to reassure you in this difficult time.

Buyers:Obviously, a downturn in the real esate markets benefits you. There are many more products out there. This means that you can afford to negotiate more aggressively, as well as avoiding competition more often.

Sellers who have had their properties on the market for a while may be more willing to accept more conditions, or low offers. The future is difficult to predict, but based on the past few years, there is no better time than right now to buy.Sellers:If you are making a lateral move, selling right now is not going to harm you. Lateral moves make the market more or less irrelevant. So do not be afraid to talk to a realtor and discuss your options. If the economy worsens in the next little while, now may be the best time to still get good money for your property.

I will put all this information on my website and blog as well. Please check out marknyman.com, and if you ever have any real estate quesitons, please feel free to call me anytime. Have a wonderful day. Oh, and I'm really pumped that Obama won!!

Market

Hi guys!
I'm sure most of you have been paying pretty close attention to the economy over the past few weeks, the media sure has. It is legitimate that over the past few years, Real Estate has been front and centre in the news related to the economy due to the sub-prime mortgage crisis. While the market has slowed due to the slowed economy, the housing market is not nearly as bad as the media has portrayed it to be. As buyers, you have a great opportunity that you haven't had in years. There is a huge amount of product on the market right now. The market has slowed, but due to limited cash flow, consumers have decided that they want to cash in now. So please don't pay so much attention to the media and ask your local realtor what your options are.

100+ Hits!

Hi guys,

I am thrilled that in the first week online, I already have had 100 hits at marknyman.com. I am doing my absolute best to try and get my name out there, so this excites me. Please send people to the site, and continue to email me with updates as you see fit. I love critique and appreciate anything you have to say about the site, positive or negative.

As we get into the busy September season, I am realizing more and more how much I love this job. It really is fantastic. I can look forward with excitement to the future. I know it has been slow getting started, and that is pretty standard for someone in my position. Being young with less networking experience as some older more experienced agents, I will always face an uphill battle against them. This is okay with me because I think being young in this business is an advantage. I have less responsibilities and more energy. I am willing to do much more running around and due diligence than some others are. I am really trying to stress this to new potential clients. I know I am young and lack the experience of the 25 year veterans. But I am willing to go to the wall for everyone, and I know others are not at this point in their careers. So please continue to pass on your referrals and if you are in need of business cards or information, please let me know. I thank everyone who has passed on my name or contact information. Every little bit helps!

Welcome!

Hi and welcome to my first ever blog. I have never done this before and thought it would be a cool feature to add to the new site. I'm assuming that if you are reading this you have been to the site. I know its a little weak right now, but give me some time and I will bring it up to snuff. If anyone has any suggestions for the site, or if you spot any errors, please email me. I'm new to this stuff, so hopefully I will iron out all the kinks as soon as possible.

Thanks again for reading the blog and visiting the site. I will try to update as often as I can.

Remember guys I am never too busy for your questions or referrals!

Cheers
